Israeli forces carried out a security operation in the Palestinian village of Tal in the occupied West Bank on Friday as more than 100 Israeli settlers marched toward the area, according to residents and the Israeli military. Residents said at least one Palestinian was wounded, at least three people were arrested, and access to the village was restricted.

The operation followed a deadly confrontation a week earlier that left four Palestinians and two Israelis dead. Israeli authorities described that incident as terrorism, while Palestinian residents said they had been defending themselves against attacks by settlers. Videos that later emerged appeared to show armed settlers pushing Palestinians during the violence.

Residents said Israeli forces have conducted almost daily raids and arrests in Tal since the previous week's clashes. Local officials said at least 24 residents remained in Israeli custody, adding that those detained were not involved in the earlier violence.

Villagers also said Israeli troops used tear gas and live ammunition to prevent residents from approaching the areas where settlers were gathering. During the march, settlers were seen entering at least one Palestinian property and removing goods while soldiers were nearby, according to eyewitness accounts.

After the march, damaged gravestones were found in a local cemetery. Residents said settlers vandalized the site while Israeli soldiers were present. Witnesses also said roads were temporarily closed to allow the settler march to continue and that smoke bombs were used to stop approaching vehicles.

The Israeli military said its forces entered the area to disperse the settlers and remove them from the village. It confirmed receiving reports of vandalism at the cemetery but did not provide additional details. The military has rejected repeated accusations that it cooperates with or enables settler violence.

Violence involving Israeli settlers and Palestinians has increased across the occupied West Bank over the past three years. Palestinians say repeated attacks are aimed at forcing communities from their land, while Israeli authorities say they are responding to security threats.

Most countries and the United Nations consider Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank illegal under international law. Israel disputes that position, arguing that the territory is legally disputed rather than occupied.
